Welsh Courses and sessions Language, History, Nature as one Come along to Penrhyndeudraeth to learn Welsh on the banks of the river Dwyryd The Welsh sessions take place in the ‘sied setlo’ (settling shed) or ‘cwt mwd’ (mud shed) in the former Gwaith Powdwr with magnificent views of the river Dwyryd. The site is a former explosives factory, a workplace for over 500 people. Nowadays, the site is managed by the North Wales Wildlife Trust and is used by the children’s group, Gwerin y Coed. During these sessions, you will learn more about the factory, the history of the people of the area, the nature surrounding us as well as discovering more about the local area.

‘Wing-it in Welsh’ sessions Using Welsh – even if it’s just a tiny bit – means the world to the people of this area as this is the first language of most of us. In this session, you will learn pronunciation, how to ask for a coffee or a beer and some useful phrases. Also, you’ll get a little booklet to take home with you to practice! Times: Mon (1 - 2.30pm), Tues (9.30 – 11am), Weds (12.30 - 2pm), Sat (9 - 10.30am) Session duration: 1h 30min Price: £35.00 August and September special offer: £45.00 for two people. It is essential to book 24hrs in advance.
Coming in 2021: Gwefus will be offering two-day Welsh courses - 'Nabod yr Ardal' (Knowing the Area), 'Y Natur o'n Cwmpas' (The Nature Around Us) and 'Chwedlau lleol' (Local Legends) where you will have the chance to learn Welsh patterns but also learn about the people and wildlife at the same time. All of the above courses will be split to Level 1, 2 and 3. Contact us for more information.
